Lost

Drowning in a sea of despair,

All my hope is gone.

There is no up or down here,

Just an infinite nothing beyond.

Suspended outside of time,

As time passes me by.

Questioning my existence,

Is my life a great lie?

I’m trying to find my way,

Through the murky haze

Of my mind.

But I am lost…

So lost…

Author’s Note:

Sometimes we lose our way, and become lost.  Trying to figure out where to go next, or what to do as the world keeps turning while we feel stuck.  It happens, but we got to keep going because the world won’t stop for us.  However, there’s always someone who will be there with an extended hand to help us up and along the way.  No matter how lost we feel, we need to keep going, because eventually we’ll find our paths.

Have you ever felt so lost, it was like drowning?

The Ocean

The ocean calls to me:

“Forget the land behind you.

Forget the pain and misery.

Come to me,

And I’ll set you free.

Let me embrace you.

For you are that which I crave.

Come to me,

I’ll show you to your grave.”

The sound of her waves crashing against the shore draws me in.

I sit here and stare out at the dull grey sky, fighting this temptation.  Her pull is strong.  But I am stronger.

Author’s Note:

On some days, I’m tempted to give up.  To give in, and let myself drown.  It’s difficult at times, but I endure.  No one said life would be easy.  Take on one obstacle at a time instead of looking at them all with dread.  The day will come when you look back and realize, you scaled mountains.  And you will know the true strength that you had all along.

We all struggle, some more than others.  What do you do, or say to keep going, when you’re on the brink of giving up?

Tree of Life

The tree of life withers and decays, as the light in the distance fades away.

She watches her last sunset, standing in silence.

Tired of all life’s chaos and violence.

The darkness moves in, consuming the land.

Followed by Death extending his hand.

Frost forms on her bark which is scarred and old.

Battered and beaten from the unrelenting cold.

Through her branches, a gentle breeze blows.

As this day now comes to a close.

Without hesitation, she takes Death’s hand.

Together they turn to leave this land.

Leaving behind the chaos and violence.

They walk hand in hand, in complete silence.

The life in the tree has faded away; her hollow husk now stands withered, and decayed.

Author’s Note:

At the time of writing this, I had the idea of this being the moment that hope, or even love dies in someone’s heart leaving a “hollowed husk” behind.  It can be interpreted in a number of ways.

What’s your take, or interpretation?  Feel free to comment below.

Despair – Part I

When all hope is lost

And you’re left cold and alone,

The emptiness will consume you,

And I will make you my own.

Unto me you will look, and know I am there.

I will crush your dreams

And I will make you drown,

In anguish and sorrow,

You forever wear my crown.

Unto me you will find, that you cannot break my stare.

You will scream and you will cry

But no one hears your plea,

Begging for mercy,

As you belong to me.

Unto me you will call, for you live in my lair.

Know my name,

For my name is Despair.
